Are You Energy Sensitive? Here’s What You Need to Know

Being energy sensitive is a gift. But like all gifts, it needs to be understood and cared for — otherwise it can quietly become a burden.
If you are energy-sensitive, you have the ability to feel what other people are feeling and experiencing. That might sound useful — and in many ways it is — but it also means you absorb the emotions, pain, and energy of those around you, often without realizing it.
How Does it Affect You?
You might experience physical pain that mirrors someone close to you — and not know that it isn’t yours. You might feel suddenly sad, angry, or anxious with no clear reason, and because it feels so real, you never question whether it actually belongs to you.
It is also very common for energy-sensitive people to always put others’ needs first — before their own. Over time, this often leads to burnout and a diminished sense of self-worth.
What Can You Do?
Step 1 — Become Aware
Awareness is everything. When you know you are energy sensitive, you can start to question what you are feeling.
When something feels off — physically or emotionally — drop into your heart and ask yourself: Is this reasonable? Is this really mine?
The act of questioning creates distance. And in that distance, you will often feel the sensation begin to ease — which tells you it was never yours to begin with. Strengthen that distance by repeating your affirmation:
I love myself! I respect and trust myself!
Then decide — with intention — that the feeling is free to leave your body.
Step 2 — Energy Protection
There are many techniques taught for protecting yourself from energies that don’t serve you. Some work in the moment. But most involve placing something outside yourself around your energy field — crystals, light barriers, walls — and while these can help short-term, they tend to block your own development over time. They create a kind of wall that eventually becomes harder to move through.
The most effective and natural protection comes from within your own light body. We call it the Bubble — the part of your energy system that exists specifically to protect you from energies that are not good for you.
The Bubble is not something you visualize or imagine into being. It needs to be energetically activated by someone with the knowledge to do so. Once activated, it works for the rest of your life. This activation is included in all our physical courses, many of our online courses, and in our healing sessions.
Step 3 — Build Your Knowledge
The more you understand about yourself — your sensitivity, your needs, your patterns — the better equipped you are to take care of yourself. This includes learning about stress management, deepening your self-love, and practicing listening to your own needs before you attend to everyone else’s.
Think of it like the safety instruction on an airplane: put on your own oxygen mask before helping others. If you don’t take care of yourself, you cannot truly take care of anyone else either.
The Gifts of Being Energy Sensitive
The challenges are real — but so are the gifts. Most energy-sensitive people are deeply empathetic, warm, and genuinely caring. Their empathy extends to all living things — people, animals, nature. These are beautiful qualities to be proud of.
And here is something worth knowing: if you are drawn to spiritual growth and heart-centered living, the chances are very high that you are energy sensitive. Most people on this path are.
The goal is not to shut down your sensitivity — it is to learn how to work with it. When you do, it stops being a burden and becomes one of your greatest strengths.
If I can do it, so can you!
